Kula Tsurdiu Couture – The Vintage of Tomorrow

In Kula Tsurdiu Couture, Kula has established a fashion focussed wedding gown design specialists founded from a dream persisting throughout her 15 year career to use original and contemporary design to evoke the classical eras of time responsible for iconic design and enduring beauty.

Born into a historic lineage of tailors and dressmakers, Kula grew up in Greece around traditional craftsmen, fabrics, embroidery, lace and machinery. She began fulfilling her own creative prophecy by moving to Nottingham’s prestigious Lace Market and creating a studio space reflective of her own unique work and prolific skills.

The elegantly vintage styled fresh open spaces of the showroom and fitting room denote Kula’s attention to detail and provide the clarity to her creative processes. She works on an appointment basis to allow her to ascertain the person that has to be represented in the gown. Clients are encouraged to bring someone along to appointments to make the occasion interactive and reflective, so she really gets to know you and your style from every angle.

Her current collection, “Historical Twist” is a celebration of the wedding dress in its many incarnations throughout the ages. Incorporating the historical influences of both structure and notions of soft, feminine romance into contemporary designs the collection encapsulates the desire of a modern bride to honour the tradition of the marriage ceremony, but to do so in a way that is up to date and distinctively now.

Her collections are a springboard for your ideas, a practical example of her technical skill that is visible for you to be able to contemplate how it could be adapted and made especially relevant for you. A lot of her sessions begin with a gown from her strongly trend led collection that can be added to or paired down to suit your taste.

There is not a gown in the Kula Tsurdiu tradition. Kula Tsurdiu creates a dress in your tradition. Statement bespoke pieces have become Kula’s design signature. In every case the client is the muse for her design.

Kula’s work appeals to the exuberant and vivacious eclectic woman who has a strong sense of self that she would like to be portrayed on the day that will be remembered as the most significant of her life up to that point.

The expertise at Kula Tsurdiu Couture is defined not just by the extensive knowledge of fashion history and techniques, but also by the feelings and emotions that garments of different types and eras can evoke and project. This is coupled with a gift that Kula has of being able to tailor those feelings for the specific personality of each of her clients.

These feelings and emotions require a precise consideration of materials and fabrics in order to see them actualised in a gown. Beautiful French and Nottingham laces and opulent appliqué embellishments alongside historic corsetry techniques bring relevance to the whole range of Kula’s work from the masterfully sculptured to the delicately floaty, accommodating every type of bride whether she is fashion forward, romantic, an extrovert individual or considered minimalist. Even minimalism requires a complex design.
